With its 2.0 l TSI engine, the compact sports car delivers an impressive 180 kW (245 PS) that hurtles you from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.2 seconds – and enables you to reach a top speed of 250 km/h (regulated). This amount of power is not just fun on straight roads like motorways, but on windy country roads, too. You’ll also get a helping hand here from the front differential lock (VAQ), which stabilises your Golf GTI if it slips and helps you to keep control in the process.

Offering you a sporty, elegant appearance
With the striking red line, radiator grille in honeycomb design and black air intakes, there can only be three letters on the badge: GTI. Slim LED Plus headlights, a strikingly dynamic bumper and extended side skirts add even more expression to the sportiness of this legendary vehicle. At the back, the roof spoiler and chrome-plated tail pipes are essential features, while the LED tail light clusters round off the unique appearance.
IQ.LIGHT
The highlight for your Golf GTI: IQ.LIGHT
TThe Golf GTI is already fitted with visibly dynamic LED Plus headlights as standard that stretch all the way round to the side wings, while slim LED tail light clusters dominate at the rear. You also have the option of equipping your Golf GTI with IQ.LIGHT headlights. In this case, extra powerful LED matrix headlights fitted with Dynamic Light Assist advanced main-beam control light up the road. The package also includes innovative dynamic turn signals that use an animated strip of lights to show which way you are turning.

Genuine highlights in bad weather
Fog, heavy snowfall or rain? Additional light is provided by the optional LED fog lights in a new five-honeycomb design which are integrated into the bumper. Turn them on quickly and the world will look pretty different. And your Golf GTI will look even more striking.
Exterior background lighting

The exterior background lighting of your Golf GTI welcomes you before you’ve even climbed aboard: Operate your remote control key or, if you’ve opted for Keyless Access with Safelock, approach the vehicle and the headlights and tail light clusters will light up. The door handle recesses and red strip in the radiator grille will also light up and your Golf GTI will welcome you with light projected out of the exterior mirrors onto the ground.

All of the components inside the GTI are carefully coordinated with each other to give the vehicle its distinctively sporty look. This starts with the stainless steel pedals and extends to the decorative trims and hallmark stitching all the way to the black headliner. The LED background lighting with a choice of 30 colours adds accents of light in all the right places. And you’ll also notice straight away that the digital future has arrived in the cockpit. These features are dominated by high-resolution displays and the majority of functions, like the radio, air conditioning system and lighting, can be operated using touch-sensitive surfaces and sliders.

The GTI look is visible in every corner of the interior. While the premium sport seats in the front are covered in durable fabric in Scale Paper design, the hallmark red accents of the GTI design are not only visible on the leather steering wheel but also on the textile floor mats in the front that come in a complementary colour scheme.
Fancy an extra dose of elegance? The optional high-quality Vienna leather equipment is smooth, creating a chic, premium feel. The black perforated natural material covers the central seat panels on the front premium sport seats – making the hallmark GTI red stitching look particularly impressive.

A touch more intuitive
The classic function knobs in the cockpit have largely made way for touch-sensitive surfaces in the Golf GTI. This allows you to control the Air Care Climatronic three-zone air conditioning system, for example, simply and intuitively using buttons and sliders. Even the leather trim touch multifunction steering wheel can be operated with a simple tap of the finger. In combination with the intelligent menu navigation you have access to lots of functions. Haptic feedback through gentle vibration confirms every entry.

When combined with the optional Discover Pro radio navigation system, the Digital Cockpit Pro can be upgraded to the Innovision Cockpit. This means that there are two displays measuring 25.4 cm (10 inches) and 26 cm (10 inches). The resulting display landscape not only contains classic content like the rev counter, speedometer and mileage counter, but also other useful data in an even clearer and more detailed display. You can even set up favourite functions on the home screen, just like the way you would configure your smartphone.

Voice control
Awaiting your command: voice control
With the intuitive voice control, you can conveniently operate the radio, phone functions, your music and the optional navigation by your voice. For example, you can select the radio station or choose the address book entry or telephone number you’re looking for with your voice. Just say “Hello Volkswagen” to start the natural voice control. The vehicle thus becomes an intelligent conversation partner, because the voice control also understands free formulations of everyday life such as “I’m cold.” or “Where are there Japanese restaurants in Berlin?”.
In addition, thanks to digital microphones, it now also recognises whether the driver or the passenger is speaking, in order, for example, to provide the air conditioning in the vehicle specifically to the person making the request. The optimised system also asks questions or lets itself be interrupted.
The voice control responses and suggestions come from two sources – the cloud and information stored offline in the vehicle. Online matching increases the recognition rate and the quality of results – the offline information is also available where there is no mobile network, for example in an underground car park.
